Defeating Palermo 1-0, Juve won Serie A for the 31st time
Arturo Vidal's penalty kick was the start of a party at Juventus Stadium, as it helped the "Old Lady" of Turin defeat Palermo and officially win the 2012/13 Scudetto, the second consecutive season and the 29th in history (31 if counting the 2 Scudettos in the 2004/05 and 05/06 seasons that were stripped due to the Calciopoli scandal).
Vidal helps Juve beat Palermo
Goal:Vidal (penalty, 59')
Red card:Pogba (83')
Antonio Conte's side put in a poor performance but luck smiled on them, with dangerous shots on goal before Vidal broke the deadlock after Massimo Donati was penalised in the box for a push from behind by Mirko Vucinic.
Juventus needed just a point against Palermo to keep the Scudetto in Turin for the second year in a row, but it was clear that victory was the only goal on the home players' minds going into the match. Juve pressed the pitch from the opening minutes, with Lichtsteiner and Asamoah on the wings constantly pushing up to keep the Palermo defense on alert.
Despite having more possession, Juve surprisingly barely created any clear-cut chances in the first half. Paul Pogba's header, which went just wide of the goal, was the Bianconeri's most notable moment in the first 45 minutes.
Juve almost conceded five minutes into the second half if Miccoli's cross-angle shot had been a little more accurate. In a game that offered no hope, Juve suddenly received... a gift from Donati. Vucinic received the ball from Pogba in the box, with his back to the Palermo goal and did not appear to be a threat to the visitors' goal. But Donati made a confusing decision by shoving Vucinic straight in the back, and the referee had no choice but to point to the penalty spot.
Vidal, who was responsible for taking the penalty, had no difficulty fooling Palermo goalkeeper Sorrentino.
With the goal, the pressure was reduced and Juventus played more freely. Vucinic thought he had doubled the home team's lead in the 66th minute after a combination with Pogba. Unfortunately, the striker's shot was not able to beat Sorrentino.
The final highlight of the match was Pogba's red card after spitting on Santiago Garcia.
Beating Palermo with a minimal score, Juventus has 83 points after 35 rounds, 14 points more than the second-placed team Napoli - a gap that helps them win Serie A 3 rounds early without having to wait for the result of the match between Napoli and Inter taking place tomorrow morning.
