Ha Tinh celebrates 180 years of province establishment

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung presented the Ho Chi Minh Medal, a noble reward of the Party and State, to the Party Committee, government and people of Ha Tinh province.

On the morning of August 11, in Ha Tinh province, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the establishment of Ha Tinh province and to receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal, a noble award from the Party and the State. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Also attending the ceremony were delegations from the capital Vientiane, Bolikhamxay and Khammouane provinces of Laos; leaders of many central ministries and branches, revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers and a large number of people from Ha Tinh province.

Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung congratulated the outstanding achievements that the Ha Tinh Party Committee and people have achieved throughout the process of construction and development. He also praised the great contributions of Ha Tinh province to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stated: Ha Tinh is a locality rich in cultural, patriotic and revolutionary traditions. Throughout the history of national construction and defense, especially since the Party's leadership, generations of Ha Tinh people have joined hands, promoted the heroic revolutionary tradition, patriotism, self-reliance, and self-reliance, overcome many sacrifices and hardships, and devoted their human and material resources and even their blood and bones to fight against natural disasters, resistance wars and national construction. They have made great contributions to the glorious victories of the struggle for national liberation, national reunification, and national construction and defense.

Today, entering the period of innovation, in the context of many favorable opportunities, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung requested Ha Tinh province to strive even harder to join the whole country in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress; strive to complete the socio-economic tasks to soon bring Ha Tinh out of the state of a poor province, by 2015 it will become a comprehensively developed agricultural province, with industry and services developing to reach a proportion of 82% of GDP.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung emphasized: The Party Committee and people of Ha Tinh need to promote to the fullest the potential advantages, geographical location, natural resources and especially the people, cultural and historical traditions, the experiences of previous generations in the process of fighting against nature, fighting foreign invaders and building socialism, especially the achievements and experiences of recent years of renovation, strengthening cooperation with localities across the country and foreign partners to promote rapid and sustainable economic development. It is necessary to build a sustainable development plan in both urban and rural areas, all three regions of the mountainous plains and islands, innovate the growth model and strongly shift the economic structure of the province in the direction of shifting from extensive development to reasonable development in both breadth and depth.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung suggested: Along with economic development, Ha Tinh province needs to pay great attention to the socio-cultural field, especially ensuring social security, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, improving the material and spiritual life of the people. Regularly pay attention to the work of Party building and rectification, promote the fight against corruption and waste. Strengthen the solidarity and unity within the Party Committee and consensus in the whole society, considering this a key task with a decisive role in successfully implementing the set goals and tasks. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung believes that with a long history of 180 years of construction and development, the Party Committee and people of Ha Tinh province will strive, unite and join forces to promote innovation, dynamism and creativity; overcome difficulties and challenges, overcome limitations, gain greater victories in the new development period, actively contributing to the cause of building and protecting the country.

Next was a parade, march, and art performance by the armed forces, militia, and art troupes in Ha Tinh province.
