China Coast Guard to have giant ship soon
Starting in 2015, the Chinese Coast Guard fleet may be equipped with large patrol ships equivalent to cruisers, displacing 10,000 tons.
China's Sina newspaper reported that on December 13, a photo appeared online of the Haijing 2901 ship with a displacement of more than 10,000 tons launched at the Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, China.
Haijing 2901 is called a “monster” by Chinese media, its tonnage is larger than all the patrol ships of the Japanese Coast Guard, and it is the largest coast guard ship in the world.
Sources said that Haijing 2901 will soon join the Chinese Coast Guard fleet in the spring of 2015 and become an important tool to protect China's so-called maritime interests in the East China Sea and the South China Sea.

China will have the world's largest Coast Guard ship. |
It is known that before China established the Coast Guard Bureau in 2013, an engineer at Jiangnan Shipyard revealed that in December 2012, the company signed a contract to build two 10,000-ton coast guard ships.
Regarding the information about China's 10,000-ton maritime law enforcement ship, an article by Japan's Fuji News Network in 2013 stated that China had purchased 40 high-capacity diesel engines from the German company MAN to use on this giant ship.
According to leaked sources, the Haijing 2901 has a displacement of 12,000 tons and a speed of 25 knots. It is equipped with a 76mm rapid-fire gun, 2 23 or 30mm guns and 2 machine guns. Regardless of the aspect of cruising ability, anti-collision performance and speed, it has a relatively large advantage over other countries' ships.
In addition, from the number "2" at the beginning of the number 2901, it can be seen that in the future this ship will belong to the East Sea Branch - China Coast Guard, with a tendency to increase activities in the disputed Diaoyu/Senkaku area.
From the photos taken by netizens, it can also be seen that Jiangnan Shipyard is also building a Type 071 landing ship, a Type 054A missile frigate, and a Type 815G electronic reconnaissance ship. This is also considered by foreign experts to demonstrate China's aggressive posture at sea towards Japan and neighboring countries.
