Two female scientists awarded Kovalevskaia Prize
On March 3, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Women's Union coordinated with Vietnam Television and the Ministry of National Defense to organize the 2011 Kovalevskaia Award Ceremony and present warm homes and scholarships to poor students who have overcome difficulties.

The Kovalevskaia Prize is to honor and commend women with outstanding achievements in study and scientific research. This year's prize was awarded to two female scientists with many scientific works published and applied in practice.
They are Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry and Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Thanh Nhan, Vice Principal of University of Science (Thai Nguyen University).
Attending and speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Ngo Van Du, Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission, emphasized that this is a worthy recognition for the great contributions of female scientists; at the same time, highly appreciated the practical significance of the campaign "Supporting the construction of loving homes for poor women and giving scholarships to poor children" of the Vietnam Women's Union.
During the award ceremony, delegates and the audience interacted with two scientists who received the Kovalevskaia Award. Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry, has made many contributions to the establishment and development of the catalysis, refining and petrochemical technology industry. She is the first and currently the only scientist of the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Thi Thanh Nhan, Vice Principal of the University of Science - Thai Nguyen University, is also the youngest Associate Professor to be appointed in 2005. She has published 16 works in prestigious international mathematics journals ranked by ISI, including 13 works in SCI journals and 3 works in SCIE journals. In particular, she has 5 works in the Journal of Algebra - a prestigious international journal in the field of Algebra, including works that have been cited by many mathematicians around the world.
During the program, 26 poor and disabled women, representing 3,000 women nationwide, were awarded “Warm Houses of Love.” This is a special competition project to welcome the 11th National Women’s Congress with the goal of building 3,000 warm houses (VND 20 million/house) for poor, single, disabled and extremely disadvantaged women nationwide. In addition, VND 2 billion (equivalent to 1,000 scholarships) was also awarded to the “Step Up to School Fund” to help children of soldiers on duty in the border and island areas overcome difficulties.
Also at the ceremony, groups and individuals who have contributed to the “Shelter of Love” and “Fund to support children to school” programs were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Organizing Committee. According to the initial report of 52 provincial and municipal associations, ministries and branches have mobilized 30 billion VND for the Shelter of Love program and 2,850 scholarships (worth 5 billion VND) to help children of officers and soldiers on duty at the borders, islands and the Fatherland.
