Indonesian and US navies conduct maritime surveillance exercise in Batam Island
From April 6-10, the Indonesian and US navies conducted an annual joint maritime surveillance exercise. The exercise took place on Batam Island, aiming to improve the knowledge, capacity and professionalism of soldiers of the Indonesian Special Forces.
The Force Commander, Major General Freddy Ardianzah, said the exercise involved skilled soldiers and modern military equipment.

The Indonesian side deployed special reconnaissance marines of the Navy with CN-212, CN235-MPA aircraft, Bolco helicopters, while the US deployed MARSOC soldiers and Orion aircraft.
According to airport director Hang Nadim, on Batam Island, aircraft participating in the exercise have been gathered at this airport since April 6.
He stressed that the exercise would not affect normal operations at the airport.
Also during this time, Indonesia and the US are conducting another exercise in East Java province./.
