Due to the impact of the global economic recession, the banking sector has tightened its lending sources, forcing businesses to reduce their production and business scale. In addition, the export products in our province are not yet diverse in types, so the export value is not high.

Faced with these difficulties, the Customs sector has proposed a suitable action plan. That is to strengthen propaganda activities, disseminate the State's policies and regimes related to import-export activities and create all favorable conditions to attract businesses to carry out customs procedures.

And one thing that is highly appreciated by customers is that the leaders of the Customs Department directly come to work with businesses to learn about the production and business situation, have direct dialogues to remove difficulties and obstacles and encourage businesses to open tax declarations in the area. Through that way, the source of import and export goods with large volume and value is gradually "unblocked".

In recent times, the Customs sector has boldly innovated administrative procedures and customs procedures towards simplicity, clarity, legality and public implementation of administrative procedures. Special attention has been paid to responding to recommendations and problems in the field of import and export of enterprises related to the value of goods.

With that approach, in the past 6 months, 273 enterprises have completed customs procedures at Nghe An with a total import-export turnover of over 162,892.53 USD (an increase of 65.3% compared to the same period in 2010). The main export items are white stone, iron ore powder, manganese ore, various types of wood, handicrafts, acacia wood chips, cement, fruit juice...

Imported goods include refined palm oil, soybean oil, liquid asphalt, auto parts, two-wheeled motorbikes, gasoline, oil, sawn timber, round timber, rolled aluminium, chemicals, plastic granules and machinery and equipment of investment projects. It can be seen that the import-export work in our province has improved and the products are diverse and abundant. Thanks to that, Nghe An Customs collected more than 396 billion VND in budget revenue (reaching 61% of the legal target), in which, the high revenue sources are import-export tax, value added tax, special consumption tax...

In import-export activities, tax management is very important and enterprises are guided by the Customs sector in tax calculation, tax declaration, correct and full payment of tax to the State budget. In addition, coordinating with the Banking sector and the Treasury to collect taxes in accordance with regulations and organizing training for enterprises on the electronic customs procedure system. With these specific actions, Nghe An Customs has not allowed overdue debt to arise in the past 6 months.

The leader of the Customs Department said: "In the coming time, Nghe An Customs will continue to promote the reform of administrative procedures and customs procedures, effectively carry out the work of supervision, management, and tax collection inspection. Fully implement customs procedures, create a favorable environment for import-export enterprises and be determined to complete the budget collection plan of 650 billion VND in 2011".
