Philippine Navy rescues 11 Vietnamese fishermen

On the evening of November 11, according to the Office of the National Search and Rescue Commission, at 10:00 p.m. on November 10, the Philippine Navy dispatched ship PG-383 to rescue ship QNg 90207 TS with 11 workers and brought it safely to Palawan port, Philippines at 6:00 a.m. on November 11.


At 8:00 a.m. on November 10, the Office of the National Search and Rescue Committee received information from the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center and the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command of Quang Ngai province, stating that on November 8, fishing boat QNg 90207 TS with 11 workers had engine failure and was drifting in an area about 40 nautical miles east-northeast of Ba La Bac Island in the Philippines.


The Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue has requested the Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs to notify and request the Philippines to direct competent agencies to take measures to support the fishing boat; at the same time, it has directed the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command of Quang Ngai province, the Border Guard General Staff to mobilize vehicles operating near the area to support the boat in distress.


The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center regularly maintains contact with the fishing vessel and coordinates with the Philippine MRCC (Philippine Maritime Search and Rescue Agency) to assist the distressed vessel./.
