South Korea dispatched eight helicopters to transport equipment to the THAAD deployment area.
The South Korean military has airlifted construction equipment to the site where the country will deploy the US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system, a move that suggests construction will begin soon, the Xinhua News Agency reported on April 12, citing the Newsis news agency.

The agency quoted a South Korean military official as saying that eight helicopters on March 11 transported heavy equipment needed for the construction of facilities and infrastructure inside the THAAD deployment area.
The equipment includes 2 bulldozers, 1 excavator, 2 containers and 2 water tanks.
In September 2016, the THAAD deployment site was moved to a golf course, which Lotte Group used in exchange for military land near the capital Seoul.
The South Korean military had previously been unable to transport construction equipment by truck to the area because residents blocked the road leading to the golf course.
