According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, 234 out of 300 lawmakers who voted agreed to impeach the President. This number is far beyond the minimum threshold of 200 votes needed.
The Constitutional Court of South Korea will rule on whether Park is guilty or not, and if so, will remove her from office or reinstate her. While awaiting the Court's decision, the Prime Minister of South Korea will serve as acting President.
For the past six weeks, massive protests have taken place every Saturday demanding Park's resignation, and opinion polls show a majority of South Koreans support impeaching their leader.
