South Korea accuses North Korea of ​​stealing military secrets

South Korean security officials have accused North Korea of ​​using an elite hacker team to steal military secrets, jam satellites, disrupt social order, divert signals, and cause chaos on flights and commercial ships in the country.

Speaking at a meeting of the South Korean Defense Security Command on June 8, Military Security Commander Bae Deuk-Shik announced that North Korea is using specially trained experts to infiltrate the country's military information network in an attempt to steal military secrets.

At the meeting, Lee Dong-hoon, a professor at Korea University, also said that North Korea conducts cyber attacks to terrorize and disrupt social order by paralyzing core infrastructure because they can cause great damage in a short period of time. He assessed North Korea as the third most powerful country in the world in terms of cyber attack capabilities, after Russia and the United States.

In addition, South Korean intelligence officials believe that North Korea has established a special unit of 3,000 elite hackers, under the direct command of new leader Kim Jong-un and the Reconnaissance General Bureau (RGB).
