Dozens of tons of Chinese potatoes still poured into Da Lat

On June 22, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Da Lat City, Lam Dong inspected the business situation of the product.potatoat Da Lat agricultural market (Ward 11, Da Lat City).

There were three potato stalls in this market, but one was closed. The team inspected the other two stalls and discovered that about 30 tons of Chinese potatoes had been imported.

During the inspection, right in front of Trang Lon counter, the vendor was sorting Chinese potatoes and packing them into bags.

According to the vendor at this stall, they import Chinese potatoes from a man named Van in Da Lat City for 10,000 VND/kg, then sort them and sell them everywhere for about 11,000 VND/kg.

However, according to Ms. Van's purchase invoice, the price of imported potatoes is 3,345 VND/kg.

According to the Trang Lon stall vendor, they classified and sold the potatoes and said they were Chinese potatoes. As for whether the people who bought the potatoes smeared them with red soil to “magically” turn them into Da Lat potatoes, they did not know.

All of these potatoes have invoices and documents, so the inspection team only made a record of taking samples to quickly analyze whether pesticide residues are safe or not.

Also on the same day, the interdisciplinary inspection team suddenly inspected the potato warehouse of a man named Hiep in Ward 11, Da Lat City. At the time of the inspection, the warehouse owner was not present, but at the scene there were about 400 kg of Chinese potatoes that had completed the "red shirt" process and were being bagged.

At the scene, a pile of "bright red" potatoes was lying on the ground, next to several bags of crushed red soil and some bags of "red" potatoes.

Two female employees working here said they were from Thanh Hoa and had only been working for about a week. They said the potatoes were Da Lat potatoes, and that was all they did, and they had no idea how to buy or sell them.

Right at the scene, the inspection team randomly washed a few of the potatoes with water. Immediately, after being “undressed”, the washed potatoes returned to their original form as Chinese potatoes.

According to a member of the inspection team, the potatoes here were purchased from a trader in Ward 12, Da Lat City. The team also made a record of taking potato and soil samples to analyze pesticide residues.

Rapid analysis results show that all are safe within allowable limits.

Previously, as Thanh Nien online reported, Da Lat City authorities inspected the facility of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet (Ward 12, Da Lat City) and discovered that she had imported 52 tons of Chinese potatoes (26 tons of pink potatoes, 26 tons of yellow potatoes). After analyzing the pink potato samples, they found that they were contaminated with the toxic substance Chlorpyrifos, 16 times higher than the permitted level, and on June 15, the authorities proceeded to destroy 26 tons of pink potatoes from this facility...

After being washed, the true form of the potato was revealed to be Chinese.

Recently, there has been a situation where Chinese potatoes were imported into Da Lat at cheap prices. Then, some traders smeared red soil on these potatoes and "magically" transformed them into Da Lat potatoes to sell at high prices, deceiving consumers for profit (currently, Da Lat potatoes cost about 20,000 VND/kg).
