This event was organized by the European Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Casino Group - a leading French distribution and retail group - to promote Vietnamese goods and increase the introduction of Vietnamese products into the distribution system in Europe.
This is the second time "Vietnamese Goods Week" has been held in Paris.
According to a VNA reporter in France, during the event from September 22 to 28, many Vietnamese products such as fresh and dried fruits, frozen shrimp and fish, fried spring rolls, vermicelli, noodles, pho noodles... were sold at Casino Saint-Didier supermarket.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa highly appreciated the Vietnam-France cooperation relationship, especially the successful cooperation and investment of Casino Group in Vietnam with the Big C supermarket system present in many provinces and cities across the country.
According to Deputy Minister Ho Thi Kim Thoa, with a very high proportion of domestic goods sold at the Big C supermarket chain, Big C Vietnam has actively participated in the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" and the "Program to Stabilize Essential Goods," contributing to macroeconomic stability.
The Deputy Minister also said that organizing the "Vietnamese Goods Week in France" is a practical and meaningful activity contributing to the celebration of the first anniversary of the signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Vietnam and France.
Mr. Laurent Zécri, General Director of Big C Vietnam, said that over the past 15 years, Big C has strived to develop Vietnam's modern trade distribution system, actively supporting Vietnamese production and export industries.
He is proud of the achievements with 28 Big C shopping centers in 18 cities of Vietnam, a total of more than 8,000 employees, and over 90% of products sold at Big C supermarkets are domestically produced.
Mr. Zécri also said that he wants Vietnamese businesses to become exporters through Big C's distribution system: "One of the goals we aim for is to encourage Vietnamese businesses to export goods through the sale of Vietnamese products in the Big C system. This is an incentive that we give to Vietnamese suppliers. Every year, we export more than 1,100 containers of Vietnamese goods, including 800 product brands to 20 countries in the Big C system in different regions such as Asia, Europe and Latin America."
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung highly appreciated Big C's efforts in introducing Vietnamese goods in supermarkets in France, and said that the presence of Vietnamese products at Casino supermarket is a positive sign and an important door for Vietnamese export enterprises.
Ambassador Duong Chi Dung said that Big C and Vietnamese enterprises play an important role in bringing Vietnamese goods to the French market. "Vietnamese Goods Week in France" is a very good opportunity for Vietnamese goods when it is present right in the heart of Paris and such practical activities to promote Vietnamese goods should be expanded to other localities in France.
The Ambassador also assessed that economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and France is growing. Trade turnover between the two countries reached 3.5 billion euros last year. However, this figure does not fully reflect the potential for cooperation between the two countries because Vietnamese goods exported to France only account for 1.7%, and French goods exported to Vietnam only account for 1.1%.
Ambassador Duong Chi Dung also encouraged Vietnamese businesses to continue to explore the French market to better meet consumer needs in terms of product design, style and quality./.
