The 2014 Tao Quan program has been broadcast on television and printed in the form of pirated discs, seemingly no longer attracting public attention. Recently, the unit authorized by Vietnam Television to protect the copyright of the "2014 Tao Quan" program on the internet has officially announced that it will sue several major networks for illegally distributing clips of this program on the internet.

Many network businesses are threatened with lawsuits for illegally distributing the 2014 Tao Quan program.

As HNMO reported earlier, before the program “Meeting at the end of the year – Tao Quan 2014” officially aired on television on New Year’s Eve of the Year of the Horse, representatives of the High-Tech Security Investment and Development Company (CNC) met with a number of media units to announce that this unit was authorized by Vietnam Television to protect copyright on the internet.

Accordingly, only CNC is allowed to exploit and release the programs “Gap nhau cuoi nam – Tao quan 2014” and “Gala cuoi” on the internet. Online viewers who want to watch these two programs must go to http://www.mvod.vn and pay a fee of 3,000 VND. CNC’s representative also confirmed that they have sent a notice about the copyright issue of these two programs to more than 100 reputable network businesses to notify them of the copyright protection mentioned above, notably Youtube, Facebook, Zing. Clips.vn, nhaccuatui…

Everything seemed to be clear and smooth, but recently, CNC officially announced that it is currently completing the lawsuit against the units distributing the “Tao Quan 2014” clips, including YouTube. It is known that despite warnings from CNC and knowledge of the copyright issue of the “Tao Quan 2014” program, nearly 20 network business units still freely distribute clips of this program, including big names like YouTube.

Speaking to the press, Ms. Luu Thi Hong, Director of CNC, said that the actions of Youtube and some of these network units have caused CNC to suffer a significant loss, so CNC decided to ask the authorities to intervene and require the violating units and individuals to compensate according to the provisions of Decree 131 - regulations on administrative sanctions for copyright and related rights. Ms. Hong also said that CNC has worked directly with YouTube in the US and received the cooperation of this website. Accordingly, the videos about "Tao Quan 2014" posted on YouTube have been taken down. For users who intentionally violated, this site has also locked their accounts.

However, the frustrating thing here is that when CNC worked with POPs Company, YouTube's copyright partner in Vietnam, they received no cooperation. According to Ms. Hong, POPS asked CNC to pay 20 million VND to prevent the spread on YouTube, which is unreasonable because CNC is the copyright holder of the program but has to pay another unit to protect the copyright of this program.

Meanwhile, a representative of POPs company responded, saying that when CNC requested that this unit respect the copyright of the program "Meeting at the end of the year - Tao Quan 2014", POPs asked CNC to send documents proving ownership of the copyright of this program, but CNC did not send them.

Currently, the copyright infringement issue on the internet program “Gập nhau cuối năm – Táo quân 2014” has not been clarified. VTV has not yet commented on this issue. Meanwhile, CNC still affirms that if it does not get compensation, it will sue the violating units, including Youtube.

Currently, CNC has completed the files on the violating units and individuals to send to the Department of High-Tech Crime Prevention Police (C50), the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
