This year's Tet in the South of Deo Ngang Pass was unusually sunny compared to previous years. However, from the morning of the first day to the afternoon of the second day of Tet, thousands of people from all over the country flocked to Vung Chua-Dao Yen (Quang Trach, Quang Binh) to burn incense in memory of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

According to the representative of the General Vo Nguyen Giap Tomb Protection Team, on the first day of Tet, there were about 6,000 visitors and on the second day of Tet, there were 7,000 visitors registered to visit the General's tomb.

People of all ages came to visit the General's tomb. Many young families also lined up to pay their respects to the General despite the hot summer weather. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, a teacher at Ky Hai Secondary School, said that although he had visited the General's tomb many times, to educate his children, on the second day of Tet, the whole family decided to ride a motorbike 40km from Ky Anh town (Ha Tinh) to burn incense in memory of the great General.
“The General was a great man. He spent his whole life serving the people and the country. Letting me visit his grave is to educate me to learn from his example and morality as well as to never forget the gratitude of those who have contributed to the people and the country,” said Mr. Tuan.
