Thousands of Ford Fiesta cars in Vietnam recalled due to errors

More than 1,000 Ford Fiestas in Vietnam were recalled for repair due to an electrical system error.

The Vietnam Register has just approved Ford Vietnam to recall and repair Fiesta cars due to electrical system errors.

According to the Department of Registration, the cause of the recall is due to direct friction between the electrical system wires and the transmission suspension on the Ford Fiesta. The friction over a long period of time can cause a short circuit and damage the vehicle's electrical system; the damage warning light may turn on on the dashboard.

The total number of faulty Fiesta cars in the Vietnamese market is 1,189, including both sedans and hatchbacks produced between July 24, 2013 and August 30, 2014.

Ford Vietnam will start the recall campaign for recalled vehicles from August 31 at Ford authorized dealers nationwide. The inspection and repair time is expected to be about 1 hour per vehicle.

Ford Fiesta vehicles manufactured by Ford Motor Company imported into Vietnam that are subject to recall as announced by Ford Motor will also be supported and replaced free of charge by Ford Vietnam under the recall program.
