According to the Guardian, this error appeared in an article published on the afternoon of March 13 about the National People's Congress of China, which will end on March 16 in Beijing.

Just over an hour after the inaccurate article was published, Xinhua issued a correction, requiring the change from "last leader" (zuihou) to "supreme leader" (zuicao).

By the afternoon of March 14, Chinese newspapers citing this news had corrected the error, writing Mr. Tap's correct title, andXinhua appears to have removed the article from its website.

In December 2015, four Chinese reporters were fired for spelling mistakes in an article about Xi's visit to Africa.Instead of writing the word "speech" (zhi ci), the reporters mistakenly wrote the word "resign" (ci zhi).

In February, Mr. Xi Jinping visited the headquarters of three state-run news agencies, including Xinhua, and asked them to maintain absolute loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party.
