On the morning of January 27, Colonel Truong Van Nam, Head of the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes (PC45), Can Tho City Police, said that at 4:30 p.m. on January 26, PC45 combined with PC65 forces simultaneously raided 10 lottery recording points in Cai Rang District and Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City.

Hau Ngoc Anh leads the lottery number recording ring and the evidence seized at PC45 on the morning of January 27.

The search of the above locations lasted until nearly 11 p.m. The authorities caught 15 suspects red-handed receiving text messages about betting via mobile phones along with many items related to betting.

After completing the search, the 15 suspects were taken to PC45 to take initial statements and to count and seal the seized evidence. The investigation team of PC45 worked all night long to take initial statements from the suspects until the morning of January 27.

Also according to Colonel Nam, through investigating the related suspects, PC 45 identified the suspect leading the above lottery number recording line as Hau Ngoc Anh, 38 years old, residing in An Cu Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City.

According to Anh's initial statement, this is a lottery line between districts in Can Tho City and has been operating for many years. Every day via mobile phone text messages, Anh will stand up to receive lottery tickets sent from various places to "close the book". In addition, Anh is also responsible for paying lottery winnings to "customers" with an amount of hundreds of millions of VND every day.

By late afternoon on January 27, PC45 had decided to temporarily detain 6 related suspects to continue investigating and expanding the case./.
