(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, many units and livestock farms inside and outside the province are joining hands to rescue hundreds of tons of spring corn that fell after heavy rain on March 21.

In the districtHung NguyenAfter Nghe An Newspaper reported on the situation of hundreds of hectares of fallen corn waiting to be rescued, a number of units and farms came to buy corn for the people.

Mr. Pham Van Oanh, a biomass corn grower in Xuan Lam commune (Hung Nguyen) said that yesterday (March 26), a number of beef cattle farms in Quang Binh came to survey and committed to purchasing 20 hectares of fallen corn for his family. By this morning, Mr. Oanh had sold 3 truckloads of corn with a total weight of 32 tons, the remaining corn will continue to be rescued in the coming time."

Mr. Oanh shared: "The rescue corn price is 500,000 VND/ton for corn without flowers and 600,000 VND/ton for corn with flowers. Although lower than the price signed with dairy companies; however, we are very excited and grateful to Nghe An Newspaper and the farm owners for taking timely action to help people minimize losses...".

At the communeChau Nhan, one of the localities that was also heavily affected after the recent heavy rains in Hung Nguyen district, the commune is directing hamlets to count and make a list of households with broken corn, focusing on harvesting and waiting for units to come and buy.

Mr. Phan Dinh Hoan - Chairman of Chau Nhan Commune People's Council said: "After Nghe An Newspaper reported, the local government and the district's Department of Agriculture contacted a number of units to purchase corn for the people with an area of ​​40 hectares, a total volume of nearly 1,000 tons, the purchase price is 600,000 VND/ton. It is expected that in the coming days, there will be vehicles to transport corn for the people...".

In the districtThanh Chuong- one of the localities heavily affected by the rain and strong winds on March 21. According to statistics, the whole district has 19 communes with broken corn with an area of ​​about 500 hectares, of which nearly 200 hectares of corn were completely damaged, with no possibility of recovery.

People have harvested part of this corn to use as animal feed but it is too much, so they have had to call on benefactors to join hands in rescuing people in the past few days.

Mr. Tran Phi Hung - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Chuong district said: "Currently, there are 2 large livestock farms in the district that are rescuing fallen corn for people. By the end of March 26, nearly 100 tons of corn had been purchased, and this number will continue to increase in the coming time. The district is also contacting TH Milk Company to consume the remaining corn area, minimizing damage to people".

Not only Hung Nguyen and Thanh Chuong, but also districts with broken corn areas such as Anh Son and Tan Ky now have farms coming to buy corn for people, reducing a part of the damage.damagesHowever, authorities also recommend that the current rescue is only a temporary and unsustainable measure. In the long term, people need to consider and carefully select corn varieties suitable for the terrain and soil of each region to avoid risks of natural disasters.
