China's actions do not change the reality of Vietnam's sovereignty.
Affirming at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 3, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh emphasized: China's recent escalating actions, including expanding storm warnings across the entire East Sea, cannot change the reality of Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh continued to emphasize: Vietnam has sufficient legal and historical evidence to affirm its indisputable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Therefore, in response to the news that China has just issued a law against intrusion into the prohibited waters unilaterally set by this country, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Vietnam is particularly concerned about this issue.
“The activities of relevant parties must respect international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; respect rights, sovereignty and jurisdiction; and not affect peace, stability and civil activities in the region,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh emphasized.
Vietnam will also continue to persevere in peaceful struggle measures at various levels.
According to the spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, legal action has also been considered by Vietnam. This is a civilized peaceful measure supported by the United Nations Charter.
“Vietnam will choose the right time to bring the highest benefits to the struggle to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said Mr. Le Hai Binh.
However, according to the Foreign Ministry spokesman, the parties still need to sit at the negotiating table based on the spirit of respecting the law and international standards.
Providing more information about the visit of Philippine Foreign Minister Albert F. del Rosario to Vietnam, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that both countries agreed to demand that China stop its violations of international law in the East Sea. Both sides also called on countries to exercise restraint, reduce tensions and strictly implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
According to Mr. Le Hai Binh, the authorities have learned about the presence of US aircraft in the area where China illegally placed the Haiyang Shiyou-981 drilling rig and are requesting further verification.
The spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: The international community, including many countries in the region as well as related countries, all support Vietnam's efforts to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea.
