At 1:47 a.m. on October 13, at Bai Lu crossing station on the Unified Railway route km 299 + 168 (in Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province), another assault occurred on a crossing guard while on duty, causing the victim to need emergency treatment overnight. He was only temporarily discharged from the hospital this morning (October 16) to return to the investigation agency to handle the case.
According to Nguyen Van Thai (born in 1992, resident of Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An), a crossing guard, at the time of the assault, he had just finished seeing off the North-South Reunification train when five young men reeking of alcohol came on three motorbikes from Bai Lu to National Highway 1A. Seeing him on duty, one of them asked him for a cigarette, but Thai said he had none, so the whole gang rushed in and beat him up. When he collapsed at his workplace alone, they left. Only then did Thai get up and call the Cau Cam road to send someone to replace him and take him to the hospital.
Yesterday afternoon (October 15), talking with Mr. Nguyen Ba Linh - Director of Nghe Tinh Road Management Company Limited (Mr. Thai's superior unit), we learned that Nghi Loc District Police are investigating and have arrested 5 subjects, and are processing the case. Colonel Tran Si Phang, head of Nghi Loc District Police, said that they will resolutely handle the case and inform the press of the results once the matter is clear.
