(Baonghean.vn) -In the jubilant atmosphere of the 37th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, from April 27 to 28, Nam Anh commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An) and comrades of key units in 10 localities nationwide organized to welcome 521 war veterans and mothers, sisters, brothers who are comrades and relatives of martyrs of the 27th Trieu Hai Regiment to make a pilgrimage "Bringing the homeland to comrades".
From all directions to hamlets 4, 5, 6, 7 (where the war veterans will come to eat and rest in the people's houses, called "welcoming the soldiers to the village") of Nam Anh commune, the army uniforms are crowded. 40-50 seat vans from the provinces of Lang Son, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Phu Tho, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, South Central and Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City rolled under the guidance of over 30 militia and self-defense comrades of Nam Anh commune to gather at the location to start the pilgrimage.
Before that, all preparations had been made by the Party Committee and district government leaders.
On February 8, 1968, right in Nam Anh land, Nam Dan district, implementing the Resolution of the Party Committee of Military Region 4 Command, the 27th Soviet Regiment of Nghe Tinh was born. Immediately after its establishment, the Regiment was ordered to march into battle and achieved glorious feats on the Quang Tri battlefield, becoming the main Regiment of Front B5, Route 9 North Quang Tri.
With these achievements, the 27th Soviet Nghe Tinh Regiment (later renamed Trieu Hai Regiment) was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State. Many officers and soldiers of the Regiment were awarded many Medals of Military Exploit, Hero of the American Destroyer, Emulation Soldier, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, 7 officers and soldiers of the Regiment became generals and hundreds of other officers and soldiers became senior officers of the heroic Vietnam People's Army.
In the war for independence and liberation of the country, thousands of soldiers sacrificed their lives. Every time they wiped away their tears and buried their comrades in the corner of the forest or on the battlefield, the soldiers always swore to themselves: after the day of liberation,
That wish was tested twice and officially carried out three times by the 27th Regiment's Comrade Liaison Committee.
The first pilgrimage in April 2009, named “Warm Forest Pilgrimage of Comrades”, had 253 comrades participating. The second pilgrimage in July 2010 had 413 comrades participating, including 43 relatives of martyrs.
These pilgrimages always receive the approval and support of Party leaders, Governments, and local people's organizations, and financial support from the Thien Tam Fund - Vinagroup Corporation and the Vietnam Development Investment Bank.
To return to the origin of the place where the 27th Regiment was born and started its march to fight more than 44 years ago, the 3rd "Bringing the homeland to comrades" program, the Organizing Committee chose Nam Anh commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An) to gather troops. The program received the response of 680 comrades and relatives of martyrs. Everyone gathered in Nam Anh commune - the birthplace of the Regiment, to begin the pilgrimage to some places where the Regiment fought and marked many victories and the final gathering point in Quang Tri province.
True to the old name of "welcoming soldiers back to the village", today, veterans, clothes, hats, backpacks, hammocks... reenact the lightning-fast march of the heroic Vietnam People's Army that defeated the enemy's invasions, commemorating the day of liberating the South and unifying the country April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2012.
