The journey to rescue a 20-year-old woman in a foreign land
(Baonghean.vn)- Not yet 18 years old, and more than 2 months pregnant, H was lured by a person in the village to go to China to work, with the promise that she would be able to return home during Tet and given an additional 80 million VND.
Recently, Moong Thi H. (born in 1996), residing in Huoi Xen village, Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong district, appeared at the Nghe An Provincial Police Investigation Agency after a long journey back from China. Having just gone through many hardships, with a tired face, she could not hide her choked emotions when recounting everything. Baby T. - a 14-month-old child who still did not understand anything, after a deep sleep, drank all the milk the police gave her and ran around the premises of the Provincial Police Investigation Agency and talked and laughed.
Tricked and sold to China while pregnant
Her story was interrupted several times by the child occasionally running in to act spoiled. While coaxing her child to play, H recounted the time she had to live in humiliation in a foreign land.
As promised, on August 25, 2014, O used a motorbike to pick H up and take her to town to meet another woman. O said, just follow this woman, she will take you to China to work. Believing her, H packed up and followed the woman on a bus straight to Mong Cai, Quang Ninh.

H and her daughter are reporting the process of being tricked and sold to China. |
Here, I was once again handed over to another person. This woman introduced herself as also from Xiangyang, having lived in China for many years, and that she would be responsible for taking me there and finding me a job. After successfully crossing the border with my compatriot, I was detained in China at the place where this woman lived for half a month.
Many times when I was bored, I asked to go find a job, she explained: it is very difficult to find a job now, the only way is to marry a Chinese man. Because I did not know the way and did not have money to return, I had no choice but to agree to this woman's arrangement. Soon after, I was sold to a Chinese man for 70,000 yuan (about 210 million VND). Through the process of living together, H learned that her husband's name was Vuong Van Phong, residing in Han Dan, Hebei province, China.
About a month after getting married, her husband's family discovered that H. was showing signs of pregnancy, so they took her to a medical facility. The doctor diagnosed her as being 3 and a half months pregnant, and knowing that the child was not theirs, her husband's family began to mistreat her even more.
Mother and child rescued
For the past two years, H has been living in humiliation due to the rejection of her husband's family. She has always tried to find a way to escape. However, after many attempts, she has failed and almost given up. But about a month ago, when H's husband accidentally read the wifi password to someone else, she secretly overheard and memorized it. When her husband's family was away and locked her in the house, she immediately turned on her computer, went online and searched for the phone number of the Vietnamese police. Having obtained the number, H immediately connected to call this number. However, the number H called back was from the Ho Chi Minh City Police. But she still had time to report that she had been tricked and sold to China.
After receiving information from Ho Chi Minh City Police and the Blue Dragon organization, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police coordinated with Tuong Duong District Police to verify the source of information and search for the victim's identity with the characteristics as reported by the victim over the phone.
Verifying the information was completely accurate, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police and other professional units quickly contacted H and instructed the mother and child to escape outside and coordinated with the nearest police station to rescue her.
At the headquarters of the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police, she emotionally recounted: After contacting the Vietnamese Police, H kept hoping that mother and child would be rescued. However, after nearly a month of waiting in despair, when hope was fading, she received a phone call from the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police. They guided her out and rescued her and her child to return home safely.
In the joy of returning home, H hugged her baby and said: "No matter how hungry and miserable I am, I will try to work so that my mother and I can have enough food to survive, and will never believe bad people and fall into the trap of human traffickers again."
Talking to us, Colonel Pham Hoai Nam, Head of the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police, said: In the afternoon of the same day, the investigators will take H and her son back to their hometown and hand them over to their relatives and local authorities. The unit will continue to consolidate evidence, investigate, and clarify to arrest the group of subjects who sold Moong Thi H, and handle them according to the provisions of the law. As for the victim who was just successfully rescued, with a small gift from the Blue Dragon organization and the love and care of relatives and local authorities, we hope that H and her son will soon stabilize their lives.
