Dr. Vu Minh Ngoc, Deputy Head of Infertility Department, Tu Du Hospital saidbiological mother born in 1987developed like a normal woman but had no menstruation. After 5 years of marriage, she sought treatment in many places but still could not get pregnant. When the ultrasound showed that she had a congenital absence of the uterus, meaning she could not get pregnant, her spirit collapsed. When the decree allowing surrogacy was issued, she was one of the first people to go to the hospital for advice with great hope.
According to Dr. Ngoc, fortunately, the test results showed that her ovaries were still functioning well and could meet the conditions for surrogacy. However,The ovaries are weaker than normal people of the same age. Each ovary has only 3-4 small follicles, if left too long, the patient may lose the chance to become a mother.
"At that time, there was only a decree on surrogacy but no circular guiding its implementation. If we waited, it might take more time, so the doctors decided tofor this couple to do IVF first to stimulate the ovaries," Dr. Ngoc recalled. Because the patientno uterus, only two ovaries so ultrasound is very difficult. To stimulate eggs, the doctors decided to use the highest dose on the poor ovaries, trying to get the maximum number of eggs. After 10 days of ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval yielded 6 eggs, all of good quality, when fertilized with the husband's sperm in vitro, they created 6 embryos of very good quality and were stored to prepare for surrogacy.
AfterComplete documents, legal procedures, psychology... according to the lawand approved by the review board, the doctors began to prepare the uterine lining for the surrogate mother. Because the surrogate mother had given birth twice before, had a normal uterus, and was in good health, everything went smoothly. Luckily, the mother conceived right after the first embryo transfer with ultrasound results showing twins. Both women were closely monitored and carefully screened during pregnancy.

BornBecause they were premature, the babies were taken home by a neonatal doctor for care. This morning, the two babies were able to breathe well on their own and are expected to be taken home with their mother the same day.
In cases of surrogacy, in addition to taking care of the pregnant woman's health, counseling and psychological support are very important. Frequent contact and close companionship between the two mothers will help the child later love the biological mother, as well as help the pregnant mother to be less attached and deeply bound to the child. Doctors recommendThe baby has the right to know about the mother who gave birth to him. If the baby is kept in the dark, and is told about the birth process by someone other than the biological parents, the child will be psychologically confused later.
