Journey of gratitude to "Those who lit the fire of the border"
(Baonghean.vn) - To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lunar New Year 2015, the Border Guard Command, Border Guard Newspaper, in coordination with the Border Guard of Nghe An province, organized a program and journey to pay tribute to "Those who light the fire of the Border". In order to arouse the movement towards the border and islands to build an increasingly prosperous border. Attending were Major General Nguyen Tien Thang, Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard, representatives of the Border Guard Command of Nghe An, leaders of Ky Son district and people of Keng Du commune, Ky Son district.
Following the program, the delegation offered flowers and incense to President Ho Chi Minh at the Kiem Lien relic site, Nam Dan district.

The delegation visited and presented gifts to the People's Armed Forces Hero Vu Chong Pao, in Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district. He is old this year, but his name and his exploits in fighting bandits, eliminating traitors, and protecting the peace of the border in the Western region of Nghe An still resonate forever. He is still a strong support for the village and the Mong, Kho Mu and Thai ethnic communities in Ky Son district. The delegation also visited and presented gifts to the family of Mr. Cut Pho Lan, 75 years old, 52 years of Party membership, currently Chairman of the Association of the Elderly in Keng Du commune, Ky Son district.

The delegation also had a cultural exchange program with the people of Keng Du commune, Ky Son district. Dance and singing performances praising the homeland and country imbued with the cultural identity of the ethnic groups on the border showed the affection and solidarity between the ethnic groups on the border and the Border Guard over the past 56 years. At the cultural exchange program, the Organizing Committee expressed gratitude to "those who light the fire of the border" and presented gifts to 3 outstanding individuals in Keng Du commune.

Major General Nguyen Tien Thang, Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard, said: The gratitude program "Those who light the fire of the border" was deployed in the area of 4 central provinces from Nghe An to Quang Tri, to show gratitude to revolutionary veterans, those with meritorious services and ethnic minorities on the border and islands who have sheltered, protected and helped the Border Guard to successfully complete the task of protecting border security and sovereignty over the past 56 years.
