Attractive activities of Tango country in Vietnam
Tango dances, films, unique exhibitions… have created the uniqueness of the Argentine Cultural Week in Vietnam.
On the afternoon of December 17, the photo exhibition “Eva Perón – Ambassador of Peace” opened at the National Library. This is an event within the framework of the activities of the Argentine Cultural Week in Vietnam, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Argentina to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Argentina.
The exhibition “Eva Perón – Ambassador of Peace” presents a number of images and books about Eva Perón, one of the most famous and influential figures in the history of Argentina; giving viewers an insight into the most important political debates of the past 65 years in Argentina. Her life, actions and thoughts were a core part of a period of profound social change and reconstruction, moving forward during the first term of President Juan Domingo Perón (1946-1955).

Eva Perón (1919-1952) full name Maria Eva Duarte de Perón, Maria Eva Ibarurgen or also known as Evita. She was the second wife of Argentine President Juan Domingo Perón and became the First Lady of Argentina from 1946-1952. She was admired by the Argentine people for fighting for women's suffrage, ensuring benefits for workers, and establishing hospitals and orphanages.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam), said that over the past 40 years, the Vietnam-Argentina relationship has experienced strong development milestones in all fields, in which culture is considered an important bridge contributing to strengthening solidarity and strong ties between the Governments and peoples of the two countries.
Artists from Argentina have been an indispensable part of the Hue Festivals since 2004, bringing to the Vietnamese people the breath of the land of Tango.
In 2012, the inauguration of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam Park in Buenos Aires demonstrated the respect of the Government and people of Argentina for the great leader of Vietnam, affirming the increasingly consolidated solidarity between the Governments and peoples of the two countries.
Immediately after the opening of the exhibition, a seminar was held to introduce the autobiography “The Reason for My Life” by Eva Perón, published by The Gioi Publishing House. The autobiography gives us a look back at the important aspects of Eva Perón’s work and the ideological content of her actions during her short but profound political career.
“My Reason for Living” is considered the most characteristic theme of Perónism and of a period that changed Argentina forever. Eva articulated the reasons for her mission, focusing especially on her concern for women and workers.
On the evening of February 17, the Argentine Film Days in Vietnam opened at the National Cinema Center. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Mónica Guariglio - Director of the Department of Cultural Policy and International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture of Argentina) thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their good feelings towards the country and people of Argentina, hoping that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop, especially in cultural and artistic activities.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Vietnam Claudio Ricardo Gutiérrez stated that Argentine cinema has always been considered the most important cinema in the Spanish-speaking community, both in terms of quantity and quality of films. Currently, the country produces 150 films each year. Two Argentine films have won the Oscar: “Historia Oficial” in 1986 and “El Secreto de Sus Ojos” (The Secret in Those Eyes) in 2010. The film “The Secret in Those Eyes” was shown in Vietnam in 2012.
After the opening ceremony, the public watched the film “Aniceto” by director Leonardo Favio, which tells a story of love and life in the Argentine countryside, with ballet narration and impressive and profound images.

On this occasion, cinema lovers can also watch other outstanding Argentine films such as: "Revolution - Journey across the Andes", "Andresito", "Buenos Aires Vitality", "High Flag Meets High Flag"...
Previously, on the evening of December 16, at the Hanoi Opera House, the program "Tango and Argentine folk music" took place to open the Argentine Cultural Week in Vietnam.

Program “Tango and Argentine Folk Music
During the program, Vietnamese audiences had the opportunity to enjoy artistic performances imbued with Argentine culture, including hot Tango dance, shoe solo, country dance and music... considered one of the most valuable assets of this country's culture.
Activities taking place during the Argentine Cultural Week will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from December 14 to 18. These events will open up new directions for development in bilateral cultural exchange and cooperation, especially in coordinating the organization of introducing the unique cultural values of each country./.
