Xoan singing is a world intangible cultural heritage.

According to information from the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at 11:30 Vietnam time on November 24, UNESCO voted to recognize Xoan singing as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection.

Previously, UNESCO had assessed this as one of the very good dossiers that needed to be considered.

Xoan singing is a form of singing to worship Thanh Hoang, a type of folk song, ritual and custom associated with seasonal festivals of the people of Phu Tho - a province with midland terrain. Usually in spring, there are xoan troupes that take turns opening spring at communal houses and temples. On the 5th day of the lunar calendar every year, they usually sing at Hung Temple.

The singing time is determined at a certain singing location, each “ward” chooses a location at the communal house gate. Singing at the communal house gate is held at the communal house gate with the purpose of making local people become brothers with each other.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan, Deputy Director of the Department of Heritage, in the coming time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will have specific programs and plans with long-term strategic vision to protect and promote the heritage of Xoan singing./.
