At the meeting, the representative of the Nghe An Province Food Safety Inspection Team announced the results of the inspection of food production, trading and processing establishments in the area during the 2017 Lunar New Year and the recent festival season. Accordingly: The team inspected 6 establishments in Vinh city, of which 3 establishments were managed by the Health sector, 2 establishments were managed by the Industry and Trade sector, and 1 establishment was managed by the Agriculture sector. As a result, 5/6 establishments violated food safety regulations.

The main violations at the above 5 establishments were failure to ensure safety during the production, trading and processing of food; lack of essential equipment and necessary certificates; expired goods... In addition, the delegation also discovered many shortcomings in the management work of Vinh City People's Committee such as: The City Health Department issued certificates of food safety eligibility to establishments without being granted a business registration certificate; The issuance of certificates of food safety knowledge still had many shortcomings; the assessment of food safety eligibility establishments still had many errors.

At this working session, Mr. Le Duy Sy - Deputy Director of Vinh City Medical Center said some shortcomings: Previously, the assessment and issuance of certificates of food safety qualified facilities were carried out by the City Medical Center; Since July 2015, Vinh City People's Committee assigned this task to Vinh City Health Department. Since then, the Health Department has never invited a representative of the professional agency, the Health Center, to the assessment team. However, the assessment minutes of the facilities always have the names of doctors from the Health Center even though they did not participate.

This situation has been reported to Vinh City People's Committee twice by the Center but it still continues.

Accepting the proposal of the Interdisciplinary Delegation of Nghe An province, Mr. Tran Van Son - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee committed to correct and amend the above-mentioned errors; rectify the state management of food safety in the area; strictly criticize individuals and groups that lack responsibility in performing public duties... Vinh City People's Committee requested departments and branches to strengthen training and professional development on food safety management and inspection for officials of the City People's Committee and wards and communes in the area.

At the meeting, the representative of the provincial Interdisciplinary Delegation also pointed out the "misunderstanding" of the City Health Department in granting food safety certificates to restaurants with many meals, which is that it is necessary to meet one-way procedures and have sample storage cabinets.
