Post-2015 University and College Admissions: Many Schools May Have to Close
That is the comment of many admission officers after 2 admission rounds, when there are schools that, after 2 admission rounds, have only recruited 1/6 of their quota, and some schools have not even recruited any candidates.
A public university like Hanoi University of Agriculture 1 also has to struggle with enrollment. After the first round of enrollment, while there were still about 2,000 candidates needed to fill the training quota, the school received 2,100 applications.
At first glance, the number seems impressive, but Mr. Bui Tran Anh Dao, head of the training management board of Agricultural University 1, only dares to predict that the largest number of candidates coming to study will only be 50% because of the high virtual rate.
The school's answer is: they are lacking students, need about 1,000 students and are calling for the third batch. However, until now, this school still doesn't know if students will continue to come?

An admissions officer of Hanoi University of Business and Technology said: in the days of collecting applications for the third round (from September 11, 2015), this school only received a few dozen applications. This admissions officer commented: it seems like there are no more candidates, I don't know where they went. In the second round, out of 2,085 applications, only 819 candidates actually came to study, the rest were virtual candidates.
In both admission rounds, this school only had 1,755 students and is currently short of 3,245 students. “At this rate, many schools will close!” An admissions officer of this school exclaimed in disappointment.
Xuan Mai Forestry University also only received 800 applications after the second round and it is predicted that only about 1/3 of the candidates will come to study. This school is also short of about 1,000 students and is calling for the third round.
Luong The Vinh University, Nam Dinh, a school that is considered to have good facilities, has only received a dozen candidates and the school's admission officers are "going to every mile" to find students.
Among the schools that are having difficulty recruiting, there are also schools that have found ways to survive. Dai Nam University recruited 1,300 students and after two recruitment rounds, the school recruited 1,200 candidates.
Explaining this, Mr. Phan Trong Phuc, principal, said that in addition to trying to improve the quality of students being trained, the school has sought to coordinate with businesses to find jobs for students after graduation (80% of students have jobs after graduation).
If only relying on the admission method based on the results of the national exam, schools will “die” and not be able to recruit enough students. In the current difficult situation, autonomy in admission, specifically offering a separate admission method based on academic records, is a “lifesaver” for schools that are having difficulty recruiting. That is the opinion of Mr. Phan Trong Phuc when his school was lucky to “escape danger” while the general opinion of many admissions officers is: This year, many schools may have to close because they cannot recruit enough students./.
