Con Cuong District People's Council: Many socio-economic targets achieved and exceeded

(Baonghean) - On December 26, Con Cuong District People's Council held the 2nd session of the 18th term.

The meeting approved the report on the implementation of the socio-economic development tasks - national defense and security in 2011 and the tasks and solutions in 2012; the report on the implementation of the budget revenue and expenditure estimates; the review of the direction and management of administrative reform of the District People's Committee; the examination of the Socio-Economic Committee and the Legal Committee; the results of handling voters' opinions and recommendations and a number of reports of the Standing Committee of the District People's Council.

During the year, despite being affected by the market mechanism of rising inflation, high prices of input materials for production, and some essential goods, along with the impact of natural disasters and floods, Con Cuong district has achieved and exceeded a number of set targets: Total budget revenue (up to November) was 8 billion 266 million VND, reaching 166% of the target assigned by the province and 1143% of the estimate assigned by the District People's Council. Regarding agricultural and forestry production, it reached over 243 billion VND, reaching 100% of the annual plan. Total output and food converted to paddy was nearly 29 thousand tons, an increase of 5.5% over the previous year. Maintaining and promoting the development of livestock, raising the total number of cows and buffaloes in the area to nearly 37 thousand, the total number of pigs to 28 thousand, an increase of 7.1% over the same period. The work of protecting and conserving existing forest areas has always been focused on and this year 1,500 hectares of forest were planted according to project programs.

In the industrial sector, industrial consumption and commercial services have shown a rapid growth trend. During the year, with central and local capital, the district invested in the construction of 163 projects with a total mobilized capital of nearly 134 billion VND, including 35 new constructions of electricity, roads, schools and stations. Regularly taking care of the social security of the people, especially focusing on vocational training, creating jobs for children in remote areas, reducing the poverty rate by 2.6% compared to 2010. Social evils have been pushed back, no hot spots have occurred, and security in the area has always been maintained.
