Provincial People's Council surveys tuition increase at Nghe An Vocational College of Technology and Handicraft
(Baonghean.vn) -Continuing the survey program on the construction of tuition fees at universities, colleges, and vocational schools managed by Nghe An province, this afternoon, June 13, the Cultural Committee of the Provincial People's Council had a working session with Nghe An Vocational College of Technology and Handicraft.
The Department of Culture and Social Affairs works at the College of Technology and Information Technology
With the function of training and improving economic, industrial and handicraft occupations and traditional occupations, in which vocational training for rural workers is the main one, Nghe An Vocational College of Economics-Industry-Handicrafts has 4 training faculties with a total of 572 vocational secondary students. To save costs in training, in the past, the school has cooperated with businesses to create conditions for students to do internships, find outputs, and create jobs for students after graduation.
Regarding the current tuition fee: 120,000 VND/student/month for vocational secondary school. The training cost/student is 5 million VND/student/year for vocational secondary school; 1.5 million VND/student/course for primary school. To ensure the current training quality, the new tuition fee is expected to be reasonable. However, with the characteristics of a vocational school, the Provincial People's Council's expected tuition fee is high given that the school's students are mainly children of poor households, farmers, and remote areas. In the context that the school is still facing many difficulties, if tuition fees are increased, it will greatly affect enrollment.
Nghe An Vocational College of Economics, Industry and Handicrafts proposes to increase tuition fees next year to 130,000 VND/student/month for vocational secondary education. Increase funding for vocational training, especially for small-scale occupations. Propose to synchronously implement a 50% reduction in tuition fees for junior high school graduates who attend vocational training at the school.
