Revealing Russia's plan to develop "secret weapons"
Russia is likely to focus its major efforts on developing unmanned military systems – which could become its secret weapons – as part of a large-scale weapons modernization program.
The above is the opinion of expert Blake Franko, given in an article published in the National Interest newspaper.
“Conceptually, the idea of focusing on Russian unmanned systems is not new. There have been major advances in these robotized systems in recent years,” the expert wrote.

Russia’s cutting-edge Armata combat vehicle is rumored to be on track to become the world’s first fully autonomous tank. And while this impressive weapon is “reaching its destination,” the Russian military is already operating robotic systems.
One of these systems, called Platform-M, was recently displayed in Crimea. It is designed to carry out missions including reconnaissance, patrol, cargo transport and even combat.
Tests on another robotic system, capable of transforming into a variety of combat-ready weapons – from a road-clearing vehicle to an electronic warfare system – are expected to begin in late 2015.
Expert Blake Franko pointed out that the US and China are also developing unmanned military systems and this reality could lead to a global arms race in automation.
