(Baonghean) - Many people know teacher Phan Thi Hong Mai - Principal of Hong Son Primary School (Hong Son Ward) - as a "source of innovative ideas" in primary education in Vinh City.

From her time as a teacher to her role as an administrator, she has always been concerned with innovating teaching methods to make learning easier for students and create enthusiasm for learning. She shared: “Elementary school students are like young sprouts; we shouldn’t overload them with too much knowledge. The important thing is to create joy and enthusiasm for learning, so they will learn voluntarily. Alongside that, we must cultivate life skills and moral education for students.” Based on this perspective, she diligently carried out the research projects: “Investigating the interests of 4th-grade students and some measures to foster their interest” and “Directing moral education for elementary school students.” Both of her projects were recognized as provincial-level innovative teaching experiences at level 4.

In her role as a school administrator, she regularly observes classes to understand the teaching situation; organizes discussions and resolves difficulties in implementing new teaching methods, drawing out optimal teaching methods to help students easily grasp the subject matter. She has also had many initiatives to rearrange the school's cramped grounds, creating a playground for students to showcase their abilities and talents, especially in restoring and effectively promoting folk games and folk songs. Beyond classroom learning, students also participate in extracurricular activities. In addition, she, along with the school staff, has done well in social work, contributing to improving facilities for teaching and learning, helping students develop comprehensively, in the direction of building a friendly school and fostering active student participation.

Under the management and leadership of Principal Phan Thi Hong Mai, the educational quality of Hong Son Primary School has developed comprehensively, ranking among the top in Vinh City. The school as a whole has achieved the title of outstanding advanced labor, and she herself has been honored as a model of learning and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh in Hong Son ward.

Nearly 26 years dedicated to the cause of "nurturing future generations," teacher Phan Thi Hong Mai has 4 provincial-level, level 4 innovative teaching methods, has been a grassroots-level emulation fighter for 10 consecutive years, and has been recognized as an excellent school administrator at both the provincial and national levels. In 2011, she was awarded the Lotus Cup by the Provincial People's Committee for provincial-level scientific and technological innovation. The Ministry of Education and Training awarded her a certificate of merit for outstanding achievements in primary school management nationwide in 2012.
