After getting married, Ban Van An and his wife had two children: Ban Phuong Hang, born in 2011, and Ban Quang Huy, born in 2013.

However, during their lives, the couple often had conflicts, so An's wife went to the South to do business. With no money to spend, An had the idea of ​​selling her eldest daughter. On November 7, 2015, Ban Van An drove Trieu Thi Pham, his aunt, and Ban Phuong Hang's daughter to Ta Lung border gate, Phuc Hoa district, Cao Bang province to meet Trieu Van Duc, residing in Vu Loan commune, Na Ri district, Bac Kan province.

The group crossed the river to China through a woman named Tai Thi Nhot and sold Hang for 4,000 NDT. An exchanged this money for more than 10 million Vietnamese Dong and then paid Pham 200,000.

On November 30, 2015, Ban Van An and two other subjects Trieu Van Duc and Nong Van Vi sold Ban Quang Huy. On December 2, 2015, due to the buyer's request for documents, Huy returned to Vietnam and was discovered for his illegal exit.

Here, the two subjects confessed to selling their own children. Ban Phuong Hang and Ban Quang Huy were later successfully rescued by Chinese border guards.
