Hezbollah Will Jump Into Palestinian-Israeli Conflict If Hamas Weakens
(Baonghean.vn) - According to an article in the New York Times, Hezbollah believes that Hamas does not need help at the moment.
TASS news agency reported on November 1 that the New York Times had previously published an article citing a Lebanese official, saying that the Shiite organization Hezbollah would join the conflict between Palestine and Israel if the radical Palestinian movement Hamas was in a state of "exhaustion."
According to the newspaper, the threat to destroy Hamas would be a red line for Hezbollah to intervene in the conflict. The official pointed out that the Shiite organization is probably holding back its forces to avoid the possibility of a larger escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. In his view, Hezbollah believes that Hamas does not need help at the moment.
Also according to TASS, tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when members of the Palestinian radical group Hamas launched a surprise attack from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, killing many residents in Israeli border settlements and taking hostages, including women, children and the elderly.
Hamas called its attack a response to Israeli authorities' aggression against the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem's Old City.
Israel then declared a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched numerous airstrikes on Gaza as well as parts of Lebanon and Syria. Fighting is also ongoing in the West Bank.
