(Baonghean)- On the occasion of the preliminary review of 2 years of implementing Directive 03 of the Politburo on continuing to promote "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" of Yen Thanh District Party Committee, the achievements of Mr. Nguyen Van Han, in Hong Son hamlet, Duc Thanh commune made the delegates extremely impressed. We met him with the hope of hearing and seeing the good deeds he did.

Coming to Hong Son hamlet, asking for Mr. Han's house, from children to the elderly, everyone enthusiastically showed the way. Mr. Han warmly invited us into the house, sitting around a wooden table. When talking about "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh", he was very enthusiastic and told us very specific things he had done. He said: "Everything I have done in the past years has been voluntary and has been supported by my wife and children."

Mr. Nguyen Van Han next to the house his family donated to the commune to build a road.

Born in 1940, when he grew up, Mr. Han joined the army, belonging to Regiment 270 (Military Region 4), participating in many battles. He was wounded in the Quang Tri battlefield in 1966, with a 1/4 disability. Returning to his hometown, the Veterans Association elected him as its Chairman. In 2007, when our Party launched the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh", he realized the purpose and thought of ways to do something, even very small, about Uncle Ho. Seeing the limitation of the association members, which was the lack of knowledge about the State's policies and laws, he cycled to Giat market (Quynh Luu) and spent 500,000 VND to buy a cassette player, along with some music tapes and discs, with songs about soldiers in the two resistance wars to save the country. He used that radio to play on holidays, festivals of the village, or for association meetings, to listen to the policies, laws newly issued by the Party and the State. Up to now, after 6 years of use, the radio, several tapes, discs, and microphone are still in good working order.

In 2011, the locality had a policy of expanding the rural traffic roadsides. Mr. Han enthusiastically responded and volunteered to donate his house and land to the commune to open the road.

His 3-room tiled house is 62 square meters wide and has been the family's home for many years. After he and his family voluntarily donated the house and land, the commune government suggested exchanging the land for his family, but he did not agree, because according to him, his land was still large enough to build a small house, and he thought that in the village there were still many poor families with grown children who did not have land for their children to live separately, so he reserved it for them. Someone told him that if the commune gave it to him, he should just accept it, and if he did not build a house, he would sell it to someone else later. But he refused.

Knowing his family's difficult circumstances, the local government supported his family with 65 million VND to build a new house. With that money, Mr. Han and his wife applied for a bank loan of 35 million VND, and together with the commune's support, they completed the construction of a new house for the family to live in.

Not only that, in 2012, Mr. Han also donated a 250 m2 garden plot to Hong Son hamlet for the hamlet to build a volleyball court. The things that Mr. Han's family has done recently, all come from the voluntary work of all family members, so they are admired by the neighbors. Regarding the Association, he has completed his tasks well every year, gradually developing the association's movement.

Learning about his family's circumstances, we further understand and share the sadness that has followed his family over the past few years. In 1995, his wife passed away, in 2005, his first daughter-in-law passed away, and in 2010, another daughter-in-law also passed away, all due to cancer. Furthermore, in 2012, his third son died suddenly. Despite his family's difficult circumstances, with the nature of Uncle Ho's soldiers, Mr. Nguyen Van Han never thought about his own private life, calculated, or compared himself with society, but always sought goodness, with the viewpoint of "I am for everyone".
