According to National Geographic magazine (NatGeo), a rare astronomical event called "Black Moon" will appear tonight (September 30) and will darken the skies of the Western Hemisphere.

Only residents of the Western Hemisphere (including North and South America, the western part of Europe and Africa) have the opportunity to admire this mysterious natural phenomenon.

When it comes to the Black Moon, many people worry that this is a bad omen signaling the End of the World as recorded in an ancient legend, but scientists say this is a normal phenomenon and nothing to be afraid of.

Scientists explain that the black moon phenomenon occurs when the illuminated parts of the Moon fall into the Earth's shadow, so the Moon will completely disappear in the sky and make it impossible for people to observe it and the night will not have any light.

However, a few days after this phenomenon occurs, you will see a silver crescent moon appear in the sky.

This mysterious natural phenomenon occurs approximately every 32 months, the most recent of which was in March 2014. The term black moon is actually a term humans coined to refer to the second new moon in a calendar month.

Normally, each year has 12 lunar periods corresponding to 12 months, but each solar month has an average of 30 days or 31 days, while the Moon revolves around the Earth in only 29.5 days, so the extra days in the solar year will accumulate and there will be 11 more days than the lunar year.

These days accumulate, and after about 2 to 3 years there is another new moon. And about 32 months or so, a second new moon appears every few months.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the term Black Moon is not officially recognized by the scientific community or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)./.
