This winter-spring crop, Dien Chau district planted more than 3,000 hectares of peanuts. The weather was not favorable, so the yield in different regions was uneven. (Baonghean) -This winter-spring crop, Dien Chau district planted more than 3,000 hectares of peanuts. The weather was not favorable, so the yield in different regions was uneven. The average for the whole district was about 2 tons/ha. However, after 2 years of testing, the L26 peanut variety is showing its superiority in terms of outstanding yield.

Peanut L26 is a matter of concern for farmers in Dien Chau district (Nghe An). Coming to Dien Loc commune - the locality in the second year of testing the new peanut variety, Mr. Phan Cong Hong, head of hamlet 10, a pioneer in planting the new peanut variety, talked to us: In the spring of 2010, the Hanoi Bean Institute cooperated with the locality to pilot the new peanut variety. He received 5 kg of seeds, and when he harvested, he saw outstanding productivity, so he decided to use all of them as seeds for the next crop. This year, with that amount of seeds, he planted 1.5 sao on a total area of 3 sao of fertile land of his family. At the end of the harvest, through testing by the Department of Agriculture and the District Agricultural Extension Station at Mr. Hong's field, 1m2L26 peanuts (including 22 bushes) harvested 1.5 kg of fresh peanuts. Compared with L14 peanut variety on a 1m home field2reach 1 kg of tubers. Thus, the yield of peanut L26 is 0.5 kg more per 1m2 than that of peanut L14.

After 2 years of growing L26 peanuts, Mr. Hong concluded: L26 peanuts grow green until harvest without wilting leaves, ensuring nutrients to nourish the tubers, so the peanuts are firmer, the leaves are smaller so they are less susceptible to fungus, the peanut stalks are deeply ingrained to help the peanuts not dry out in the hot southern season. This peanut variety flowers in a concentrated manner so it avoids flat tubers, the peanut kernels are large to meet export needs.

According to Mr. Dau Ngoc An, Chairman of the Cooperative, with the results of the last two production seasons, if there are enough seeds in the spring crop of 2012, the Cooperative will mobilize to plant all 120 hectares of land in the entire commune. Nghe An Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company will ensure to purchase all products to supply peanut seeds to localities in the province, serving the Company's export strategy, so there is no need to worry about output. The Cooperative is currently also taking care of the seed source to supply to the people. Regarding productivity, it has been confirmed through two planting seasons, reaching from 4.8 tons - 5.2 hectares. This productivity has never been achieved by any peanut variety before.

Talking to Mr. Pham Ngoc Thang, owner of a peanut export business in Dien Chau, last year the business exported 20 tons of L26 peanuts to China. L26 peanuts have large tubers, bright and beautiful color, meeting the demanding market. The large peanut kernels ensure the production of Super peanuts, a product that is popular in the market.

These are the advantages for people to develop this peanut variety. It is known that L26 peanuts have also been "targeted" in the agricultural export strategy of the Provincial Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company. The company is also planning to build its own raw material area.

From the advantages in productivity as well as export advantages of this peanut variety, authorities need to have a plan to help farmers quickly develop to increase income per unit area.
