Registering to reach the NTM finish line in 2017, Hoa Son has focused all available resources to complete 19 criteria. One of the difficult criteria that is currently being prioritized is the environment. The difference between Hoa Son and other communes in Anh Son in this criterion is the construction of a model of a household waste incinerator in each household.
In early 2017, the commune implemented a policy that each household and residential area must build a garbage pit to collect, gather and process waste. Accordingly, the commune also built a design model of a garbage pit with a size and cost suitable for each household.
Each household only needs to spend over 500,000 VND to buy sand, gravel, cement, steel... to build a garbage pit. The garbage incinerator is about 1m high, the compartment is 1m wide; there is an iron rack to hold the garbage, 25cm high from the ground; the ash outlet is 40cm wide and 25cm high; there is a roof to keep out the rain. After burning, households use the ash to compost for agricultural production.
Another way of doing things in Hoa Son commune is that each cadre and party member is a pioneer in implementing the project. The commune has established a shock team of 7 people to build models at the village cultural houses and each village has 2-3 households as models. After having a model, seeing the benefits of the model, the majority of Hoa Son households agreed to implement it.
Mr. Le Xuan Hoa's family in village 3, Hoa Son commune, is one of the first households to build a garbage pit at home in the commune. Mr. Hoa shared: "Since the construction of this garbage pit, all household waste has been collected and classified by the family. Every week, the family burns it 3 to 4 times."
Mr. Pham Trong An, village 7, Hoa Son commune, is also one of the households that has just finished building a garbage pit. He shared: “Because the furnace is designed with ventilation doors at the bottom of the furnace, when burning garbage, the wind will blow in and within 10-15 minutes the waste will burn completely. It is very fast, convenient and ensures the living environment of the people.”

Mr. Phan Van Phong - officer in charge of new rural areas of Hoa Son commune said: Although the incinerator has just been officially expanded to households and residential areas, the model of using incinerators in Hoa Son commune is proving effective in treating household waste in households that have built them.
Up to now, 12/12 villages in the commune have implemented the policy of building garbage pits at home, each village has 10-12 pits built as samples for people to see.
The commune is striving to have 70-80% of households using this model by the end of 2017, in order to effectively handle household waste, contributing to improving health and protecting the environment./.
