The effectiveness of the Ban - Ban twinning movement on both sides of the border

(Baonghean.vn) - On August 11, at My Ly Border Post, Nghe An Border Guard held a meeting to discuss the situation and review two years of implementing Directive 12/2013 of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee on the Ban - Ban twinning movement on both sides of the border.

The conference was attended by: My Ly Border Post Command, representatives of local Party committees and authorities of My Ly and Bac Ly communes, Ky Son district, border protection forces of Laos (Company 217), representatives of Cha Nga village management board, Bac Ly commune and Cha Nga village, My Ly commune with Xop Cang and Xop Xan village clusters, Muong Quan district, Hua Phan province (Laos).

My Ly Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard coordinated with local militia on both sides of the border to patrol the Vietnam - Laos border.

At the preliminary meeting, the two sides highly agreed on the significance and importance of the border twinning. Thereby, it has encouraged the people of both sides to actively participate in protecting territorial sovereignty, maintaining security and order in the border areas of each side; fighting against activities that sabotage border signs and landmarks; coordinating to resolve arising conflicts; the material and spiritual life of the people has been gradually improved. Timely helping each other in times of difficulty, adversity, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, exchanging experiences in the leadership, direction and management of the Party, government and grassroots mass organizations, exchanging and learning about socio-economic development models, contributing to building a peaceful, cooperative and developed border.

The two sides agreed to continue to organize propaganda and mobilize people on both sides to comply with and strictly implement the 11 contents of the memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides.

In the past 2 years, the two sides have organized 9 propaganda sessions/4 villages about the friendship between the two countries and Laos. The Lao side has organized 3 delegations/51 people to visit the unit and 2 border communes, presenting gifts worth 4 million VND on the occasion of holidays, New Year and the traditional day of the Vietnam Border Guard. Nghe An province has also organized 4 delegations to visit Laos and presented gifts worth 8 million VND, organized 2 cultural and artistic - sports exchanges to strengthen the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The two sides also discussed the situation and agreed on 8 contents to resolve security and order-related incidents occurring on both sides of the border. In particular, preventing illegal migration, illegal border crossing, smuggling and trade fraud, and illegal logging; at the same time, agreeing on the contents and time to coordinate border patrols in the coming time.
