The effectiveness of the movement to invent teaching equipment in Nghe An
The movement of self-manufacturing vocational training equipment has existed for decades. This not only meets the needs of teaching and learning, but also brings new knowledge to teachers and students in the process of creating highly applicable products.
Meet practical needs

Industrial Electricity Practice is the product that won the first prize of the Nghe An Province Self-made Training Equipment Competition in 2024. This product is highly appreciated for its utility and high applicability in refrigeration vocational training. The author group Bui Thanh Dong and Pham Trong Dinh (teachers of Nghe An Ethnic Minority Secondary School) came up with the design idea and completed the product in 6 months.

The Industrial Electrical Practice Equipment has solved many difficulties in practicing modules related to practical lessons. If in the past students had to spend a whole month to complete 3-4 modules, now it only takes more than 1 week to complete. Because when applying this equipment, students complete lessons faster, the efficiency is therefore also higher. Teacher Bui Thanh Dong said: "The Industrial Electrical Practice Equipment is an integration of many other practical equipment, it was born to save costs and save time in the school's training organization. At the same time, it stimulates students' curiosity, so the efficiency achieved is much higher".
In addition to the Industrial Electrical Practice Equipment winning First Prize, at this year's competition, Nghe An Ethnic Minority School also had a veterinary diagnostic anatomy set winning Second Prize.
This device helps students identify diseases of domestic animals faster and more clearly and from there have appropriate treatment methods. The good and convenient thing about this anatomy set is that it is integrated with 4.0 technology applications. If before, the old anatomy set that the school imported could only teach to groups of 4 students, now, with the integration in this set of equipment, hundreds of students can watch via camera. From there, the effectiveness of teaching hours is increased, and the students' absorption is therefore also much more effective. Teacher Hoang Ngoc Thao, who also participated in the group of authors who created this device, said: The device was completed in 3 years, contributing to solving all the weak points of old devices such as being bulky and taking many steps. At the same time, only 1 set of equipment but has integrated many other devices, so it is convenient to move as well as shortening the training time.

Vietnam - Korea Technical College is a unit with a long history of achievements in self-made training equipment competitions. In 2024, the school had 14 devices participating in the competition and won 4 prizes, 1 First, 1 Second, 1 Third, and 8 Encouragement prizes. The school's principal, Mr. Ho Van Dam, said: The movement to manufacture training equipment has been carried out for more than 10 years, not only in response to the movement from the General Department of Vocational Training but also stemming from practical needs.
Homemade teaching equipment, in addition to the functions of a normal teaching equipment, also contains profound economic and pedagogical meanings. To make a device, teachers and students must not only carefully study the relevant lecture content, but also have a deep understanding of the process, functions, materials, etc. This is also of great economic significance, helping to supplement a large amount of equipment every year that the State budget is not yet able to meet.
Principal of Vietnam - Korea Technical College Ho Van Dam
"All of the school's homemade training equipment costs only 50% of the financial value of an imported device, and can integrate many features and practice many modules at the same time. More than 70% of the components of the homemade equipment are reused from old equipment, but through the creative hands of the school's teachers and students, the new equipment has 2-3 times more value," said Mr. Ho Van Dam.
Promote creativity of teachers and students
Mr. Hoang Sy Tuyen - Head of Vocational Training Department, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that in recent years, the implementation of the movement to make training equipment has attracted teachers, students and trainees of vocational training institutions in the province to participate enthusiastically; thereby, both encouraging creativity in teaching and learning, reducing costs and meeting training requirements at each unit. Through this movement, lecturers, students and trainees have the opportunity to promote their intelligence and creativity in designing self-made training equipment, serving scientific research, invention and application in the teaching and learning process to improve the quality of education and training. Self-made equipment with structures and designs ranging from simple to modern technical applications, complex programming are included in teaching, bringing many advantages focused on occupations such as electricity, electronics, welding technology, automotive technology, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, etc.

This year's DIY training equipment competition has been outstanding in both quantity and quality. Most of the participating equipment has met the requirements of knowledge and skills of the training program, training modules, regulations on output standards and has been effectively applied in the teaching process, suitable for practical conditions and applying modern technologies such as: Internet of Things technology, artificial intelligence technology, semiconductor technology...
Ms. Ho Thi Chau Loan - Deputy Director of Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs
Some devices use easily available materials, combined with the creativity of teachers, who have applied scientific and technical advances to the design and production of training equipment. This brings high feasibility in replicating the results of self-made equipment, improving the quality and applicability of the equipment; increasing the efficiency of use as well as economic efficiency in investing in training equipment at vocational training institutions.
The authors and groups of authors have invented excellent devices, effectively applying scientific and technical advances in the process of designing and manufacturing training equipment and the applicability of the equipment to the training process, such as: industrial electrical practice table equipment of Nghe An Ethnic Boarding College; spread-out refrigerator model of Vietnam - Korea Technical College; smart welding cabin equipment of Vietnam - Germany College; multi-purpose equipment of Nghe An Industrial Economics - Handicraft College. Through this competition, Nghe An province has selected 16 devices expected to participate in the 8th National DIY Training Equipment Competition in 2025 in Hai Phong City.
