Mr. Do Duc Long, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Cultural Center in France, said that this was a "bumper" summer in promoting Vietnamese culture and traditional arts in France. According to him, these activities organized within the framework of the Vietnam Year in France 2014 are a meaningful contribution of the Vietnam Cultural Center in France to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France. The Center has invited five domestic art troupes to participate in traditional art festivals in France, namely the Central Highlands Gong Troupe, the Vietnam National Art Troupe, the Vietnam Music and Dance Theatre, the Hanoi "Len Dong" Troupe, and the Viet Bac Art Troupe to participate in art festivals in Romans, Alençon, Menitré, Maintenon, Felletin, Montoire, Houblon and Dijon.

At these events, Vietnamese art troupes are always respected by the organizers, given performances at the opening and closing ceremonies, joint performances with art troupes from other continents and street parades. Notably, at the Houblon Festival held in the city of Haguenau, Alsace (Northeast France), Vietnam was a specially honored guest in the Vietnam-France Exchange Year. The organizers also chose the theme "Asian Treasures" to take the audience on a "tour" to explore the Asian cultures of Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, etc. through folk art performances.

International friends also love the traditional dances, folk songs, performances of traditional musical instruments and especially the Ao Dai fashion shows which were produced in collaboration with overseas Vietnamese director Alain Vu Hoang Mi. At many performances, the audience rushed onto the stage to get a close-up look and expressed their pleasant surprise when the performers played traditional musical instruments such as the T'rung, Monochord or Bamboo Flute.

Summing up a summer full of traditional arts in France, Mr. Do Duc Long said the tours were very successful. In just two months of July and August, Vietnamese art troupes had about 60 performances alone or with art troupes from other countries, serving hundreds of thousands of international audiences. The performances of Vietnamese troupes received special affection from the public, which shows that traditional dances, folk songs and traditional music have their own appeal. It not only promotes the image of a beautiful, peaceful, rich in identity and increasingly integrated Vietnam, but also contributes to bringing peoples closer together, while actively contributing to solidarity and friendship around the world./.
