Coach Arsene Wenger is angry with the referee for losing to Man City

(Baonghean.vn) - Coach Arsene Wenger believes that referee Michael Oliver made two important wrong decisions in Arsenal's 1-3 loss to Manchester City.

Of the three goals scored against goalkeeper Petr Cech, Man City's second goal in the 50th minute was scored by Sergio Aguero's penalty. Before that, Raheem Sterling collided with Nacho Monreal in the penalty area.

Man City's third goal was scored by Gabriel Jesus from close range after a cross from David Silva. However, it is worth noting that both players were offside but were not blown by referee Michael Oliver and his assistants.

This humiliating defeat caused Arsenal to drop to 6th place on the rankings with only 19 points, 12 points behind the leader Man City when the Premier League had just reached round 11. This made coach Arsene Wenger unable to hide his dissatisfaction with the referees.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the “Professor” said: “Once again the referee became the topic today with an unnecessary penalty and an offside goal. However, we are used to that when we came here, last year Man City and there were two offside goals.

I feel the referees did not do their best. Yes, they did not do their job. Their level has dropped every season. Overall, it is unacceptable. And of course the referee ruined a game for us.”

“We played very hard and when we reduced the score to 1-2 we thought we could come back. But when they led 3-1 it was a real surprise. Of course, they (Man City) are a top team, but when they led 3-1 it was really difficult for us,” said coach Arsene Wenger.

Meanwhile, on the other side, coach Pep Guardiola still insisted: “A penalty is still a penalty and an offside is still an offside, but we won because we played better. We deserved to win.

They told me Man City's goal was offside, but I didn't want to win that way. There was a time when Arsenal won at Burnley in the 96th minute with a handball. The most important thing is the result, we did that."

Man City's victory over Arsenal along with Man United's 0-1 loss to Chelsea helped Pep Guardiola's team firmly hold the top spot with 31 points and increase the gap with second-placed Man United to 8 points.
