Coach Guillaume Graechen, the 'weak link' of HA.GL

Not until now, but long before HA.GL with the players Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong... entered the Toyota V-League 1-2015, people saw that coach Guillaume Graechen seemed to be one of the weakest links of this team that was considered to have a lot of potential.

The reason for saying that is because HA.GL is currently very similar to the U19 Vietnam team under the leadership of coach Graechen in the past 2 years, meaning that Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong can play very well and excitedly when they have enough space and time to play, but against experienced opponents or those using a pragmatic playing style, coach Graechen and his team are immediately no longer themselves.

The fact that the Vietnam U19 team led by coach Graechen continuously lost to the Indonesia U19 team in the final of the 2013 Southeast Asian U19 tournament (held in Indonesia) as well as the loss to the Myanmar U19 team in the final of the 2014 Hassanal Bolkiah Cup (held in Brunei) is proof that coach Graechen and his team have not yet developed the true mettle to overcome difficulties.

Actually, Coach Graechen cannot be blamed for this, because his forte is youth training, and anyone who understands football knows that there is always a huge gap between a coach who specializes in youth training and a professional coach who has been trained through challenges in harsh environments.

HA.GL is a rare team in V-League that has a coach accompanying the team from when the players are teenagers until adulthood, and looking at the world, there are few similar cases.

Like society, football also has a clear division of responsibilities, for example, a coach who specializes in youth training must specialize in youth training, and the first team coach will be the one who works with players who have matured professionally, just like a student cannot have a dedicated teacher from primary school until university graduation.

Until now, people have only heard of good players being good players thanks to good teachers, but rarely have they witnessed cases where a teacher is raised to a higher level thanks to the outstanding abilities of his students, and it seems that the time has come for players like Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong... to need a teacher like Coach Toshiya Miura or Coach Phan Thanh Hung, Coach Le Huynh Duc... to truly mature.
