Coach Kim Sang-sik called up a series of young players to the Vietnamese national team to prepare for the match against Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
On the morning of September 30, head coach Kim Sang-sik announced the list of 24 players of the Vietnamese national team to gather in the 4th session of 2025 to prepare for the two matches against Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. The biggest highlight of this call-up is the appearance of 7 young faces who have just won the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship with U23 Vietnam and qualified for the 2026 U23 Asian Cup.

In the list, the group of young players includes: goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, midfielder Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Xuan Bac, and three strikers Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Phi Hoang and Nguyen Nhat Minh. Their presence promises to bring freshness to the playing style as well as increase competitiveness in the squad.

Besides the young generation, coach Kim Sang-sik continues to retain many pillars with international experience such as Do Duy Manh, Bui Tien Dung, Pham Xuan Manh, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, Cao Pentdant Quang Vinh and Nguyen Tien Linh.

The combination of youth and experience is expected to help the team maintain stability and ensure continuity in the process of building playing style.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will gather on October 4 in Ho Chi Minh City. The first leg match with Nepal will take place at Go Dau Stadium (Binh Duong) on October 9, before the two teams play again at Thong Nhat Stadium on October 14, 2025.
