Coach Koji Gyotoku: Cambodia learned a lot after the friendly match with Vietnam

After the friendly match between Vietnam and Cambodia, coach Koji Gyotoku shared about his players' performance as well as assessed the difference between the two teams.

On the evening of March 19, the Vietnamese team won 2-1 against Cambodia in a friendly match at Binh Duong Stadium. Although it was just a test match, both teams played with determination and gave the audience an exciting performance.

After the match,Coach Koji Gyotoku thanked the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for organizing a quality match, and he also gave his assessment of the match.

"In terms of skill level, the Vietnamese team is superior to us in every aspect, from technique, physical strength to tactical operation," Mr. Gyotoku admitted. However, he also emphasized that this is a valuable opportunity for Cambodia to accumulate more experience, even though the results were not as expected.

The Cambodian coach frankly pointed out the problems his team encountered, especially in the first half: "We could barely control the ball, especially the midfield could not deploy the play." In the second half, after realizing the problem, Cambodia made adjustments to control the ball better. "This is something I need to discuss further with the players so that they can improve in the future," he added.

Despite the defeat, coach Koji Gyotoku still noted some positive points from the match, including Cambodia's beautiful goal. "We created many chances, but only took advantage of one. It was a beautiful goal, but we need more goals like that," he commented.

In addition, the Japanese coach also praised some outstanding individuals in the Cambodian squad, especially player number 15, Sumaul. "He played very well and made important contributions to the team."

Another notable point in the Cambodian squad is the appearance of a number of naturalized players. Coach Gyotoku highly appreciated their contributions: "The naturalized players played well, supported and helped the whole team a lot."
