Coach Michael Weiss: 'Laos is ready to score against Vietnam'
(Baonghean.vn) - Coach Michael Weiss affirmed that the Lao team has been preparing diligently for the past 2 months, his team will create many difficulties and score against the Vietnamese team in the opening match of the AFF Cup 2022.
"The Vietnam team is a strong team with a clear tactical system and good organization,"Laos coach Michael Weiss said. Laos is the first opponent of the Vietnam team in Group B of the AFF Cup 2022. The match between the Vietnam and Laos teams will take place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, December 21.
Coach Michael Weiss rated the Vietnamese team as the top candidate for the 2022 AFF Cup championship. However, he declared that the Lao team will play with high determination and will not give up easily in the match.

"They are the favorites but we will try to do our best with the U23 players, plus some older players. We are looking to the future and trying to gain as much experience as possible. We will not give up easily and will make it difficult for the Vietnamese team.", coach Michael Weiss said.
Participating in the AFF Cup 2022, the Laos team used a young squad with most of the players being in the age group to participate in the 32nd SEA Games next year. In addition, coach Michael Weiss also placed his hopes on two stars in the attack, Billy Ketkeophomphone and midfielder Soukaphone Vongchiengkham, even though these two players did not play much last year.

Talking about the preparation of the Laos team, Mr. Weiss said:"We have watched the matches of the Vietnamese team in great detail, trying to find a way to deal with the tactics of the Vietnamese team. We have had 2 months of preparation. The players have played a friendly match with U23 Thailand. The Laos team has strength and endurance. Now we have to choose the right approach for the match."
This is the last tournament that coach Park Hang-seo leads the Vietnamese team, coach Michael Weiss highly appreciates what his colleague has done:"Mr. Park has been excellent in the past 5 years with good results. He has built a strong team. That is what people do when they lead a team for 5 years.
Vietnam's national championship is very strong so they can select many players. Their youth training system is also strong. There is no need to say much about the Vietnam team. They are candidates to win the tournament."
