Coach Miura: There will be no bias or favoritism
Mr. Miura's goal is to create a positive competitive environment for the National Olympic Team to select and screen to finalize the list of 23 official players.
As reported, today (February 24), the National Olympic Team under the leadership of head coach Toshiya Miura officially gathered at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center to prepare for the 2016 U23 Asian Qualifiers.
The practice session took place in beautiful weather and an exciting atmosphere.
This is the first training session in 2015 of the National Olympic Team, so there are not many surprises when Coach Toshiya Miura has called up 30 players, including the presence of players who played very impressively at the 17th Asiad and many young faces who have grown up from the National U19 Team.
The Japanese coach's goal is to create a positive competitive environment for the National Olympic Team to select and screen to finalize the list of 23 official players who will participate in the challenging journey at the 2016 U23 Asian Qualifiers.
On the first day of training, except for midfielder Vo Huy Toan who asked for permission to arrive late, all the remaining players were present at the camp as scheduled. At 5:00 p.m. the same day, the whole team had their first training session on the artificial turf field of the Youth Football Training Center.
Before coach Toshiya Miura and his team entered the spring training session, representatives of the VFF leadership met to encourage the team members and wish them a Happy New Year.
The players were all very excited and showed great confidence, even though most of them were wearing the National Olympic Team jersey for the first time.

Although it was just a light warm-up session, head coach Toshiya Miura still set very high demands on his players. The Japanese coach was very pleased with what the players showed in the first training session. He said: “The players have just arrived but have shown enthusiasm and determination. The recent Tet holiday did not affect the players' physical strength much. Currently, I have not defined the team's playing style, because we need to have the best players first. Like at the recent AFF Cup, Vietnam is an attacking team because in the squad there are many players with very good attacking ability. I also reiterate that the players must compete fairly in all positions because I will not have bias or favoritism for any individual."
Talking about the National Olympic Team's goal in the upcoming 2016 U23 Asian Qualifiers, Coach Toshiya Miura once again affirmed that he and his players will do their best to win tickets to the finals.
The Japanese coach confidently stated: “Vietnam’s football is currently ranked between 16th and 20th in Asia. Therefore, there is no reason why we should not have faith in our competitiveness.”
According to the plan, the National Olympic Team will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with an intensity of 2 sessions/day.
In preparation for the continental tournament, coach Toshiya Miura and his team will have 5 matches to test their squad, including 3 important highlights: a friendly match against the Indonesian Olympic team on March 9 at My Dinh National Stadium, a friendly match against the U22 Uzbekistan team on March 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium and a friendly match against the Thai Olympic team in Bangkok on March 22.
Before that, on March 5, the National Olympic Team will have a practice match with Hanoi T&T Club at Hang Day Stadium and one day after the friendly match with the Indonesian Olympic Team, also at Hang Day Stadium, the team will have a practice match with the club with very high performance in V-League 2015, Than Quang Ninh.
After the match with Olympic Thailand, on February 23, coach Toshiya Miura and his team will travel from Bangkok to Malaysia to participate in the 2016 U23 Asian Qualifiers. In this tournament, the Olympic National Team is in Group I with Japan, Malaysia and Macao. The top team will win a direct ticket to the final round while the second-placed team will compete for 1 of 5 tickets to the next round for the 5 second-placed teams with the best results in a total of 10 groups./.
