Coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh: Players nowadays often think about transfer value!

(Baonghean) - Currently, the salary and allowances for players are quite high. Bonuses and transfer fees are also high. The higher the bonus, the more it encourages the spirit! Therefore, players often think about transfer value, salary, bonus... so it is different from before. That is the feeling of coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh when talking about Vietnamese football today.

PV:As someone who has been with SLNA for quite a long time, in your opinion, what is the difference between SLNA when you were head coach before and now?

Coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh:Previously, SLNA players had low salaries and low food allowances, but they had a very high competitive spirit. They had a lot of self-respect towards the audience and fans. At that time, the province's economic conditions were still difficult. Although the provincial leaders paid much attention to them, SLNA's treatment was not as "equal to" as the teams: Customs, The Cong, Saigon Port...

But the good thing is that the fans are very interested in the team. At that time, every time SLNA played at home, the audience came to the stadium very early, 3 o'clock but they were already there at 12 o'clock. That gave the players great encouragement and motivation. That's why the matches at Vinh Stadium at that time were very exciting. At that time, from the cradle of SLNA appeared many talents such as Huu Thang, Van Tien, Quang Truong, Van Sy Thuy, Van Sy Son, Thanh Tuan...

At that time, with an abundant source of players and the players' desire to compete, SLNA quickly became a strong team. At that time, the team's organization was quite tight, many players were admitted to the party, many players were in the state payroll, so the players were very excited, playing their best every time they went on the field, because they knew that the affection of the leaders and the fans for them was very great. At that time, for 6-7 consecutive years, SLNA almost did not have a single loss at Vinh Stadium.

Nowadays, the salary and allowances for players are quite high. Bonuses and transfer fees are also high. The higher the bonus, the more it encourages the spirit! Therefore, players often think about transfer value, salary, bonus... so it is different from before.

PV:According to you, what are the impacts when a football team is transferred from a subsidized mechanism to a business?

Coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh:When a club is transformed into a business, it depends on the sponsor. If the sponsor has a lot of money, cares about the players, and rewards them a lot, the players will play more enthusiastically. A match with a large reward will make the players more excited and more effective. But if the sponsor cares less, rewards less, and is not as good as other teams, the players' competitive spirit will certainly decrease. That is one of the factors that leads to bad psychological factors for the players.

PV:What do you think about the current SLNA force?

Coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh:In my opinion, the current SLNA players’ professional level and physical strength are quite good. From goalkeeper to center back, striker... they are all pillars of the national team. So whoever says that SLNA’s current force is weak is not right.

Many people ask why there are many young players who have had a lot of contact, were called up to the U23 team, the national team but when they returned to their clubs, they did not leave an impression? That is due to many reasons, not because of expertise! Maybe it is the training work, creating a drop point for players who have not met the requirements.

On the other hand, the bonuses for players may not be as good as other places, so the players have a bad mentality. There may also be some players who are about to be transferred from SLNA, so they play to keep their place so that they can go to other places to earn higher income. Of course, if players think like that, they are weak. Because in my opinion, before being transferred, they should play their best for the team, for the club, then they will leave a good impression on the fans, and the scouts will like them even more.

If you only think about income, you will not achieve your dreams. I cannot say that all players are like that, but just a few people with that mindset can weaken the team.

I see that nowadays there are matches where the players are playing with all their might but the attack is not effective while the defense is losing in very awkward situations. The coaching staff needs to review and correct the players' mistakes.

PV:Currently, some Nghe An fans are turning their backs on the team. What solutions do you think are needed to "attract" fans to the stadium?

Coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh:I think to attract spectators to the stadium, it has to come from both sides. Spectators have to believe in and support the players and the team, and the players have to respect the feelings of the spectators and play their best for the flag and the team.

Fans must have faith in the players, so that the players do not lose confidence and become discouraged after defeats. That is very dangerous.

Chỉ có thi đấu hết mình, giành chiến thắng, SLNA mới kéo được CĐV trở lại khán đài
Only by playing with all their might and winning can SLNA bring fans back to the stands.

I think SLNA has had some memorable matches this season, such as the away win over Binh Duong (the team with the best players in Vietnam at the moment), and the 4-0 home win over Than Quang Ninh. That is to say that SLNA is not bad, but at some point, in some aspect, we were not well prepared, or we were not adequately motivating the players mentally and materially, or there were internal problems that we were not able to resolve completely.

Only by playing your best and winning can you bring excitement and enthusiastic cheers from the audience.

PV:Thank you!
