Coach Park Hang-seo has not chosen Alexander Dang yet.
The striker currently playing in the Norwegian First Division did not leave an impression when the head coach of the Vietnamese national team directly "watched his legs".
"Leave it for further monitoring" is the brief sharing of coach Park Hang-seo about Alexander Dang with the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) after he returned from Norway.
Alexander Dang is 29 years old this year, his father is Vietnamese. Currently, he plays for Nest-Sotra IL Club in the Norwegian First Division.
On May 4, Coach Park Hang-seo personally went to watch the match between Sandefiord and Nest-Sotra IL. In this match, Alexander Dang started, but did not leave an impression. He only had one dangerous shot in the 77th minute, but the home team's defender rushed in to block it. Alexander Dang was substituted in the 88th minute, and two minutes later, his team conceded a goal, leading to a 1-2 defeat.
Alexander Dang hopes to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. |
After returning from Norway, Coach Park Hang-seo has not proposed to call up Alexander Dang. He has no plans to watch any more matches of Nest-Sotra IL, but still assigned his assistants to collect video footage for further monitoring.
Alexander Dang does not have Vietnamese nationality and cannot speak Vietnamese. The striker's representative once asked the VFF to send an invitation or summon the player first, then proceed with the naturalization. But the VFF refused, with the reason that all personnel decisions in the national team are decided by coach Park Hang-seo. And according to the law, the VFF cannot summon players who do not have Vietnamese nationality.
Besides Alexander Dang, Coach Park Hang-seo is also keeping an eye on a series of other overseas Vietnamese players such as Filip Nguyen (number one goalkeeper of Slovan Liberec Club in the Czech Republic national championship), Jason Quang Vinh Pendan (currently playing for Sochaux Club in Ligue II and once played for the French U18 team), Kevin Bui (playing for the Vitesse Arnheim U17 team, once called up to the Dutch U17 team for the European youth tournament)...
Overseas Vietnamese players playing in the country such as striker Mac Hong Quan (Quang Ninh), defender Adriano Schmidt (Hai Phong) and striker Martin Lo (PVF)... are also being targeted by the Korean strategist.
