Coach Park Hang-seo worries about the expectations of Vietnamese fans

On November 7, VFF officially held a press conference to announce the new contract with Coach Park Hang-seo. The new contract will take effect from February 2020, after the 1959-born coach and the Vietnam U23 team participated in two consecutive tournaments, the 30th SEA Games and the 2020 U23 Asian Cup finals in Thailand.

Coach Park Hang-seo will continue to lead the national team and U23 Vietnam at the same time for a period of 3 years, including a review of the contract after the end of 2 years. The new salary of the Korean coach is about 50,000 USD/month.

Coach Park Hang-seo opened: "Over the past two years, there have been goals I have achieved, and goals I am aiming for. However, we have tried our best and are happy with that achievement. At this moment, I feel a heavier responsibility. The achievements we have made over the past two years, our players have developed and I believe they can compete in international tournaments.

I also think that the players' awareness of patriotism is also a great achievement. Our team continues to discover new players, helping the system develop more firmly. We will try our best. Recently, there has been more interest in football, many projects have been implemented.

I welcome youth football training and hope for more investment. Experts need to meet regularly and discuss to achieve long-term goals in football. In the past two years, Korea and Vietnam have become one, brothers. I am happy that football has promoted the friendship between the two countries. I hope everyone will consistently support Vietnamese football."

In addition, Coach Park Hang-seo also shared the reason why he wants to continue working with the Vietnam team: "I am not the one who directly negotiates but authorizes the representative. Fortunately, we have reached an agreement, in the spirit of reasonable exchange, the terms proposed by both sides.

During the negotiation process, I always gave the direction of being in charge of both teams (national team and U23) and importantly the vision and way to develop the teams. Over the past two years, I have always maintained the mindset of trying my best to achieve the best results. Now that the expectation of the Vietnamese people is higher, I also confirm that I have to prepare more to meet this expectation."

Coach Park Hang-seo continued to speak at the signing ceremony with concerns: "Two years ago, when I was here, I talked about the vision. Firstly, we make the most of our current resources, combining the use of young talents to create harmony in the team. Football must create the concept that a team creates understanding.

Before signing the contract extension, I thought a lot. Vietnamese football has achieved some results. Some people even told me to rest, but I know that the Vietnamese people are waiting for a lot. I don't know if the expectations will be even higher in the future. Personally, I don't know if this is the last contract or not. In the future, I don't know if I can meet expectations or not.

The players and I continue to prepare and conquer new challenges. Over the past time, I have received a lot of help from VFF. Once again, I would like to thank you for your help. I am very honored and proud."

Finally, the head coach of the Vietnam national team shared: “The coaching staff, the players and I are worried but will continue to prepare and conquer new challenges. I have received a lot of support from the VFF leadership. I also know that Mr. Tuan - Vice President of VFF had to discuss a lot with my representative to get the contract today. I feel honored and proud to continue this job”.

Also at the launching ceremony, VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc affirmed that the Vietnam Football Federation has discussed and outlined a detailed plan from now to the next 3 years. In the immediate future, Vietnamese football will maintain the achievements it has made in the past 2 years, while creating a premise for further development, towards 2026.
